Compare · Per-subscriber watermarking — paid SaaS vs. free browser tool
honest, axis-by-axis, no trash-talk
§ receipts.you vs. Privly / Ovarra

Privly and Ovarra charge for per-subscriber watermarking. Receipts.you does it free.

Privly, Ovarra, BranditScan and similar tools sell adult-creator workflows where each subscriber receives an invisibly-watermarked copy of the creator's content; when a leak surfaces, the embedded variant ID identifies the leaker. The watermarking + signing layer is real engineering, but it's bundled with leak-site monitoring + automated DMCA filing, and the bundle is priced at $30-200/month. Receipts.you's Snitch Tracker does the watermarking part free in the browser, with the image bytes never leaving your device. If you want monitoring + automated DMCA too, keep paying for one of the bundled SaaSes — they do that part well. If you just want the watermarking and proof, receipts.you replaces the most expensive part of the SaaS bundle with a free tool.

Summary · before you read the table

Use receipts.you's Snitch Tracker for free per-subscriber watermarking and proof. Use Privly / Ovarra / BranditScan / Rulta if you also want leak-site monitoring and DMCA-filing automation — those services do that part well and are worth paying for. The two are complementary; receipts.you replaces the watermarking module, not the whole stack.

Pick receipts.you if…

  • You want per-subscriber watermarking without a monthly subscription.
  • You handle DMCA filing manually (most creators do, with template letters).
  • You want the image bytes to never leave your device.
  • You want the proof-receipt URL as your DMCA evidentiary attachment.
  • You're not at the volume where automated monitoring's cost is justified yet.

Pick Privly / Ovarra if…

  • You want a single dashboard that monitors leak sites AND files DMCAs AND watermarks.
  • Your leak volume is high enough that automated takedown is worth the monthly fee.
  • You want a 'concierge' workflow where a human team triages your reports.
  • You're already paying for one of these services and the watermarking module is the bonus, not the primary value.

Specific questions about this comparison

Q.01

Why is receipts.you free when these tools charge?

They bundle watermarking with monitoring + DMCA automation. Monitoring at scale (crawling thousands of leak sites daily) and automated DMCA filing are operationally expensive — that's where the subscription money goes. Watermarking itself is a hash function and a frequency-domain insertion; it costs nothing to run in your browser. We separated the cheap part (watermarking) from the expensive part (monitoring) so you don't have to pay for both as a bundle.

Q.02

Can I use Snitch Tracker AND keep paying for Privly / Ovarra?

Yes — they're complementary. Use Snitch Tracker for the watermarking and the proof receipt. Use Privly / Ovarra / Rulta / BranditScan for the leak-site monitoring and DMCA filing if you find that valuable. Many creators do exactly this and report the bundled vendor's monthly cost drops because they're not also paying for the watermarking module.

Q.03

Will the watermarks from Snitch Tracker work as evidence in DMCA filings?

Yes. The receipt URL is a signed, dated, cryptographically anchored proof. DMCA agents at registrars / hosting providers can verify the timestamp and signature; the variant ID extracted from the leaked image proves which subscriber's copy escaped. We've seen creators include the receipt URL in their DMCA evidentiary attachment with success — the cryptographic layer often gets faster takedown response than evidence without provenance.

Q.04

Does Snitch Tracker watermark survive Instagram / Twitter / Telegram round-trips?

In our synthetic 512×512 test corpus, yes — canonical platform pipelines (resize to 1080-1600px longest edge + JPEG q70-85) recover the watermark with CRC validation passing. Real-world content varies; run the test rig at /lab against your specific material before relying on the recovery rate for your case. The honest framing is in /for/creators.

Q.05

What if my leak count is very high — does Snitch Tracker scale?

Watermarking N subscribers means N browser-side operations; we don't rate-limit that part. The rate limit on receipts (1000/min/IP) covers the proof side. For very high volume (thousands per drop), the workflow is fine; automation via the open API is straightforward. If you need batch tooling, reach out at [email protected] — we can probably help script it.

Free watermarking. Bring your own monitoring if you want it.

Most creators don't need to pay for the watermarking module any more. The proof is signed, the variant ID is cryptographic, the image never leaves your browser.
