The deal, in plain English.
What receipts.you is
A cryptographic timestamping service. You drop an image, we sign its SHA-256 hash with our private key and a UTC timestamp, return a public receipt URL. The service is free for personal and commercial use, subject to fair-use rate limits.
What receipts.you is NOT
- Not a truth verifier. We attest to byte-level integrity of an image since sealing, not to the authenticity of what's depicted. Sealing a fabricated screenshot does not make it real.
- Not a notary. We are not licensed notaries in any jurisdiction. For documents requiring formal notarisation, use a licensed notary.
- Not a qualified e-timestamping provider. Our timestamps are standard electronic timestamps under eIDAS Article 41(1) — admissible as evidence in EU courts without automatic legal presumption of accuracy. For eIDAS-qualified timestamps, use DigiCert / GlobalSign / Sectigo or equivalent.
- Not a substitute for legal counsel. Whether a receipt is useful in your specific legal context depends on your jurisdiction and the matter at hand.
- Not a guarantor that any specific use of a receipt will succeed at proving any specific claim.
Acceptable use
- Don't seal CSAM, content depicting non-consensual sexual material, or content that promotes violence against specific individuals. These will be removed on report and the receipt deleted.
- Don't use the service for harassment, doxxing, or impersonation campaigns. We'll remove receipts associated with such use and may block the country/UA bucket.
- Don't try to deduce other users' receipts by hash-guessing or scraping. Fair use is fair; sustained automated probing isn't.
- Don't resell the service or rebadge it without permission. Affiliate / partner programs are welcome — email us.
Liability
The service is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, receipts.you's aggregate liability for any claim arising from your use is €0. We make no guarantees about availability, latency, durability of the database, or the eternal verifiability of any receipt — though we make best efforts on all of these and use OpenTimestamps as independent insurance.
Changes to these terms
Material changes get a 30-day notice. We'll never retroactively invalidate receipts you've already sealed.
